Bits & Pieces, Evening Edition

  • Now that it's become faux pas for the actual candidates to attack each other, the campaign staff are squaring off in public:
Geoff Garin, (Clinton) vs. David Plouffe, (Obama)

  • It seems Hillary got some oratory coaching. If she had been giving speeches like this since the beginning, she'd probably be way ahead.

  • Here's an interesting SurveyUSA.com poll released about two hours before the polls closed in Pennsylvania. The broad strokes: the majority polled believe Clinton should stay in even if she loses PA, that the two should continue to run separate campaigns, but if they were to join up for the "dream team", the majority (particularly Democrats by 20 points) would prefer Clinton on the top of the ticket.

  • Coincidence? Nancy Pelosi once again says the "dream ticket" is a bad idea.

  • I'm not so sure what a bad idea the dream team is. It seems to me they've had worse ideas, and even worse ideas, even worse ones and another terrible idea, and another one, and another one here, not so long ago. It seems to me, the Democrats have had one good idea in the last 27 years, and his name was Clinton. In the last 45 years, we have only had 4 Democratic presidents, and only one of them served two full terms. It's been almost 40 years since we've had two consecutive Democratic presidents, and 147 years since we had a two Democrats in a row where the 2nd on actually won his first term (instead of succeeding a dead president.) I'm not sure the Democrats know what a good idea is or isn't. What's so wrong with this Dream Team?
