I can't get over the Rick Warren thing.
Someone posted a comment on a story about it that pretty much says how I feel:
I felt giving Rick Warren a place of honor at the Inauguration was a slap in the face. I gave time and money to the Obama campaign and I feel betrayed. I understand the concept of reaching out to those who disagree with me, but not now and not here... I care about the symbolism of a bigot given a prominent seat at Obama's table while those who actually worked for and elected him are still waiting for substantive Change We Can Believe In... I get emails from the Obama Transition Team every day asking me for money (!). I send them back with the note ASK RICK WARREN FOR MONEY in the subject line...
I just tried to listen to Obama's lame defense of Rick Warren... all this blah blah blah bullshit about how we don't always all agree and how we're all going to come to the same table.... blah blah blah. Take your rainbows and happy savior of the world shit somewhere else.
Rick Warren is a bigot and a hate monger. He likes Obama because the Great History Making Messiah Of Change capitalizes Warren's ministry, gives them more power, more money, more recognition, and an undeserved reputation as part of the solution -- when it is precisely organizations like Saddleback Church that have created hatred, division, misery and bigotry and supported oppression and mindless conformity.
I don't see any racists or Nazis coming to bless the Inauguration. I don't see anyone like Phyllis Schlafley coming to make sure women stay in their proper place at the ceremony.
Obama claims that he has always been "consistent" on GLBT issues. So this is consistency, huh? I'm so sick of politicians always compromising on GLBT issues because they know it's one they will be forgiven for. FUCK. YOU. I wish I'd voted for McCain. At least he doesn't lie about his convictions to get a few votes. That's why everyone hates conservatives -- they're not ashamed of what they believe. Even Rick Warren has more honor than Obama in this situation. It's a revolting, disgusting, traitorous insult.
