Pelosi Feels The Burn

For the first time in 5 years, Nancy Pelosi is no longer the most powerful Democrat in America. She worked her little tail feathers off to get President-elect Obama elected, openly contemptuous toward Hillary Clinton (and in the end, Hillary still gets more power, more access to the President, and more star power) and blithely bullied the Democratic caucus to get behind her. Now, she has to "lay down the law" with Rahm Emmanuel -- no longer her creature in the House. Not that he ever was to begin with, just an alacritous player. Emmanuel has long been a Blue Dog, and prominent member of the Democratic Leadership Council, Hillary Clinton's true power base, and the body from which Bill Clinton rose to the Presidency. With Rahm out of the DCCC chairmanship, and out from under Pelosi's thumb, she announced today that there would be "no surprises" from the Democratic White House, and in essence told the incoming Obama administration that they had better mind their P's and Q's, and she wants to know the second they set foot on her turf, and why. Poor little Nancy.
