Iowa Legalizes Gay Marriage

The Iowa Supreme Court has spoken. Unanimously. “The Iowa statute limiting civil marriage to a union between a man and a woman violates the equal protection clause of the Iowa Constitution.” Effective April 24th, 2009, gay and lesbian couples in Iowa will be allowed to get married, not civil partnership, but legal marriage, the same as any straight couple. Bravo, Iowa!
