Nancy Pelosi Loves To Write Checks, Pretty Soon It Will Be Blank Ones

As anyone who has read my opinion columns knows, I hotly despise Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. I'll refrain from the name calling that I stooped to during the Democratic primaries. However, now that Pelosi's power reigns supreme following Obama's huge coattails that swept a 20-seat pickup into the House, it's even worse. Not only does she operate like a Trap Door Spider in Congress, but now she wants the government to cross the line from subsidizing financial institutions, to directly bailing out private-sector corporations. She's also calling for another stimulus plan, which while it put some drinking money in American pockets, or a new Wii under the Christmas Tree, really did absolutely nothing for the economy or Americans at large. A few months after the last stimulus plan was passed, the US entered the worst economic crisis in a generation. Pelosi loves to spend money the government doesn't have, all the while claiming that she supports "pay as you go" legislation, of which there is no such thing. I have long believed that the reason she supported Obama in the Democratic primaries over Hillary Clinton was a combination of two things: 1) professional jealousy, and 2) the near-certainty that she will be able to manipulate Obama much easier than Clinton. Now that she has personally delivered an entrenched majority to the House, she has a mandate all of her own. She likely saved her own seat by pulling a now-trademark Obama move: refusing to debate her opponents, in fact having them forcibly removed from a press conference at one point. Nancy Pelosi is a tyrant and hypocrite and should be stopped. She is now saying Obama should "govern from the middle" because of the new class of moderate freshmen Democrats she has to crack the whip over, not because she believes it.
