No, Not Hillary For Supreme Court

So, there are a few headlines to the tune of, "Hillary Clinton for Supreme Court Justice."

And, while I can't imagine any scenario where such an appointment would be palatable to her, I can see why her name would come up.

Just for the record, however, here's my opinion on why she will not be nominated:
  • She doesn't want it
  • Her job approval as Secretary of State is soaring still over the 70% mark, which in addition to being a record for her career and for the SOS post, has to feel really good, too, after the bruising she took last year.
  • In this vein as well, any good manager (in this case, the President) knows you don't take people out of jobs where they are setting the bar in terms of performance, unless it's for a promotion, which honestly, the Supreme Court isn't. (For Hillary.)
  • Conservatives would never allow a femi-nazi, baby killing, socialist like Hillary Clinton on the Supreme Court.*snark*
  • In terms of legacy building, political relevance, networking, power base, future viability as a politician, and yes, even *gasp* path to the presidency, Secretary of State is gold, whereas judge's robes would be a lead weight
  • As I'm sure Barack Obama knows, Hillary Clinton is a double edged sword, but in this instance, the loss of capital, clout, and elbow grease by taking Hillary out of the State Department could be a crippling blow to foreign affairs "at this juncture." Hillary has owned the job, in every way. The State Department looks, smells, tastes, and walks like a Clinton.
  • Obama can get what Hillary would bring to the SCOTUS from another personality, without the baggage
  • If Joe Biden is working on the SCOTUS selection process, the above will be doubly true
  • And, just in case the importance of a previous item was overlooked because of the tongue-in-cheekiness of it, let me say it again: Conservatives would never allow a femi-nazi, baby killing, socialist like Hillary Clinton on the Supreme Court.*snark*
